You know you should always carry a flashlight in your car along with several other items to ensure you stay safe if anything should happen. The same applies if you have a boat. Strack Insurance Services, serving Arlington, TX and the surrounding area, advises boaters to carry the following items on their boat at all times.
1. Buoys
Technology may have made you believe you don’t need buoys since a GPS can help you find your way. However, technology fails you sometimes, and sometimes it’s just easier to use a buoy. You can situate a buoy in the water as a reference point, so you know how to get home, or you know where that prime fishing spot was.
2. Rope
You can use rope to tie your boat to a dock or bridge. Rope also become useful when you need a tow, or when you need to tow something.
3. Dry Clothing
You’re surrounded by water. You could find yourself getting soaking wet, even if you don’t plan to get wet. Especially if it’s not a warm day, you don’t want to end up having to stay in your wet clothes. Make sure you wrap up these items well, so they don’t end up getting wet.
4. Current Boat Registration
Just in case something should happen, you should always carry a current boat registration on your journeys. If you have a boater’s license, you should bring it on board with you as well.
5. Boater’s Insurance
If you have boater’s insurance, you should always carry it with you. If you should get into an accident, you’ll need to provide the person with your insurance information.
If you don’t have insurance, you should contact Strack Insurance Services, serving Arlington, TX and the surrounding area, by calling 817-557-0100 to get a quote and open a new policy.
